Mini-Workshop: Get to Know the National Hydrography Dataset

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Please join us for an information-packed introductory session on the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). NHD is the Nation’s surface water dataset which includes features such as lake and ponds, streams and rivers, canals, springs, and much more. CA DWR and USGS will cover topics focused on access to the data, data content, data updates, and basic applications. We will cover where to download the data and how it is apportioned (by watershed). We will look at the point, line, and areal features and show their roles related to hydro networks and cartography. We will explain California’s role in maintaining data and how data users can provide input too. Finally, we will review the data together and show how it can be used in your GIS certain applications.

Participants may bring laptop computers (with ArcMap 10.x) and we will have local NHD data to load and review.
