Dr. Roth is the Geographic Information Officer for the California Department of Conservation (DOC). The Division of Land Resource Protection within the DOC, is responsible for tracking and reporting on the conversion of agricultural land across California. The Division also administers multiple programs that conserve land in agricultural use and provide multiple benefits to the state in the form of open space, habitat, carbon sequestration, and other ecosystem services. Prior to the DOC, for 15 years at UC Davis’s Information Center for the Environment, Nathaniel focused on the use of geospatial information and models to improve decision making for land use and transportation planning, habitat conservation, and on improving public access to data.
